  • Braking System

    The 4-wheel disc brakes feature lightweight aluminium rear calipers and a design that helps provide a strong, progressive feel. The Antilock Braking System includes Electronic Brake-force Distribution, to reapportion front/rear braking pressure when the vehicle is loaded. To help ensure maximum braking during an emergency, the Impreza features both Brake Assist and Brake Override.

  • Vehicle dynamics control system

    The Vehicle Dynamics Control System monitors and analyses via an array of sensors whether the vehicle is following the driver’s intended path. If the vehicle approaches the limits of stability, the AWD torque distribution, engine output and brakes at each wheel are adjusted to assist in keeping the vehicle on course.

Every bit of knowledge gained from the crash test is applied—from the airbags to the chassis, to the cabin-protecting layout, it’s all engineered to help minimise the effects of a collision and protect passengers.
Seats, seatbelts and SRS* airbags
The Impreza features whiplash-reducing front seats and energy-absorbing head restraints, along with seatbelts with pretensioners, that can help better protect front occupants during a rear collision. Front, front-side, curtain and knee SRS* airbags are standard on all models to maximise protection in frontal and side impacts.
Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frames
The Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frames feature high-tensile steel designs that are strong and rigid, yet light in weight. The passenger cabin is strengthened from the roof to the doors, pillars and floor. This design helps, in a collision, to divert and dissipate impact energy away from the occupants. 
Cabin-protecting layout
In the event of a head-on collision, the SUBARU BOXER engine and gearbox are designed, for your protection, to avoid crashing into the cabin.
